Not too much to write up from Friday, so did a double header with a Friday/Saturday review all in the same email. There are loads and loads of qualifiers from Saturday though, so will do the evening meetings as a separate email or will combine them with Mondays replays.
Here are the horses that caught the eye that may be worth looking at next time they run.

Caraway, sent off the 6/5 fav here backed in from 3/1 earlier in the day. Had not shown too much form going into this so the market strength was somewhat surprising. Went through the race well enough but in behind 4 horses coming into the straight, jockey went for a gap that was closed just as he started to go through it, horse was badly hampered and jockey immediately eased the horse out of the situation and backed off any further participation in the race.
Looked to be coming with a decent challenge, will be interesting to see if money comes again for this one given the “trouble in running” comment now appears the last twice on his record.

Bradbury threw away what looked to be an insurmountable lead right at the line, went through the race well, pushed for home early, opened a clear lead 2f from home, hitting the furlong mark tail started flashing and the horse seemed to get tired, did not have much left at the line, may be one of those horses that has to be delivered right rather than pushed out for a sustained run, the two in front pulled 6l clear of the third horse, so there does appear to be ability there, as long as they can find a similar race to aim at in the next few weeks, this one should claim compensation with a win based on this result.

Though this was posted as a 0-100 class 2, the top rated in here was the horse that we are going to take out of the race - Alobayyah. Rated 89, very lightly raced 4 yo. Was held up out back early, 3f from home the horse was pulled a little towards the stands side to get a clear look at the horses ahead, and was asked to staedily improve position, this was happening as the pace at the front was starting to pickup. Approaching the 2f mark, the horse was pushed along and still had lots of ground to makeup, at the 1f mark those in front started to tire and Alobayyah seemed to have more stamina, the gap closed all the way to the line. The horse run the fastest sectional in the race for each of the last 4 furlongs and was simply left too far out back early. This run coming off a 7 month break.
Should have much more of an idea next time out, certainly one to take forward, however I suspect the next race we see her in will be much more competitive.

Tribal Chief was a little slow into stride and the pace up front was fast. This would normally work to the advantage of one coming from off the pace, however with so many horses in the race, there was a little bit of traffic to navigate. The horse and jockey did well to weave through towards the tail end of the race, making up around 6 lengths to get within 2l of the winner at the line. Rated 93 currently, there will be a race to be won with this one. One to keep on side going forward in the big handicap races. Now 5yo and hitting peak form, the horse could well have a very successful season.

Another to take from this same race was the early pace maker - Jordan Electrics. Set very fast fractions early, never pushed too hard towards the business end of the race. This race does have an interesting profile however. Now 10 years old, it is fair to assume that the horse is past his peak, had a blisteringly successful year in 2024, taking his OR from 71 to 102 .. with 7 wins from 13 races.
Went close to winning last year at York in a class 2 over 6f from a mark of 100, and has now fallen to a very workable mark of 91. Last two runs have been over 7f, where I suspect 6f is ideal given the early pace.
Would not be at all surprised if this one puts in a nice run in a big race over 6f somewhere this summer.

Empirical, coming off a 3 month break, First time in a handicap from a mark of 66, away slow and when asked for an effort took a while to get rolling, needs a long galloping track and maybe a step up to 1m2f or a very stiff mile to show competitiveness I think. Seems to have an engine .. just a little slow get going ,, but once rolling can see him mowing down better horses than this, They will likely experiment a little to find the right track and trip. But I think we should see better from him.

Siempre Arturo looked to have plenty of running left, the jockey rode him with upmost confidence and yet the starting price of 100/1 suggested he should be out the back with the no-hopers in this race. Won a couple of class 3 (0-95) handicaps middle of last year from marks of 87 and 92, form tailed off after that, was tried at Listed company but was soundly beaten, then in a higher class 2 handicap where there seemed to be little left in the tank. Off for 5 months over the winter and back into a class 3 here and shaped with promise. Sat well out back early and caught on the rail with horses in front coming round the turn and into the straight, as those at the front started to go for the line, ours catapulted out for the run and came wide .. jockey seemed confident, horse was going well. When asked for an effort horse picked up well and ran on strongly to the line, flattened out a little in the final half furlong but that is to be expected given the amount of ground he had to make up combined with the fact that this was first run back off a break. At this level he can certainly be competitive going forward, interesting to see where he goes next. Kempton and Windsor seemed to be target tracks last year.

RACE REPLAY
Harlequin Breeze has a strange profile. After three runs in very average races towards the end of last year, the horse came out this year and was immediately put into the NELL GWYN STAKES group 3 race at Newmarket in April off the back of those. Three weeks later makes a handicap debut in a class 4 3yo handicap race from a mark of 84 with a poor 7lb claimer up top. All very strange so far.
Having said the above, the horse stayed on in this race towards the line and well after the race was over, keeping pace with those in front with little to no effort from the saddle.
The horse appears to be crying out for 1m2f, the handicap mark is also likely too high right now, but the horse showed some kind of form and ability in this, and if we get a real jockey in the saddle at a stiff track over a correct distance, we may have something to work with.

Lake Forest was massively impressive here. Running in group ones and twos had not really been able to find footing at that level last year. Gelded over the winter break and hosed up in this lower grade with some nice horses in behind. 5yo now, so peak form still to come, at this level will be hard to oppose, though its difficult to see why he wont be stepped back up into group company going forward from this .. This was an impressive performance.

RACE REPLAY
One Night Thunder was not given a hard ride here, won back to back at Carlisle last year from marks of 70 and 75, I would be interested if they find a race for this one over 7f in a 0-80 at that track, they seemed to be looking for an extra couple of lbs here the way the horse went through the race.

My Boy Harry was a speed figure selection for me in this race, was out back and detached for most of the race, I assumed the saddle had slipped or something similar. in the final furlong the horse made up a silly amount of ground after it seemed to grow wings, not sure what games they wee playing with the horse, but this certainly will have caught a few eyes and no doubt the price will not be there the next time it is out and ready to roll. Very poor ride ... or ridden to perfection .. depending on who you ask and where the money went.

RACE REPLAY
Neyva's Angel was slow from the stall, seems to be her thing. Sat towards the back of the race until 2f from home when the horse was given a run towards the stands side , horse picked up really well from 1f out and went past several, jockey had to stop riding a couple of times inside the last furlong as there was simply nowhere for the horse to go, finished very close at the line and with a better stant and/or some luck in running would have been much closer. Last two runs will now show "slow away" and "Not clear run" .. will find trouble, but does appear to be about 7 ot 8lbs below where she should be in the handicap based on her last couple of runs. Once to watch in the near future.
