We initially shortlisted runners boasting the highest speed figures, leaving us with Glamorous Breeze, Adrestia, Twilight Calls, and Jasour. We discarded the class-dropping Jasour; despite his back-class, his headstrong nature makes him highly vulnerable over this incredibly sharp 5f trip.

Our selection is Glamorous Breeze. With an extreme early pace expected, her tracking runstyle is ideal. Sectional times suggest she possesses a lethal burst of speed in the penultimate furlong, perfectly timing her strike as the front-runners begin to tire. She boasts proven course-and-distance form on this good-to-firm ground, and trainer Christopher Mason’s stable is currently in red-hot form. While Adrestia and Twilight Calls pack dangerous late kicks, the sharp track may leave Adrestia with too much to do to close down Glamorous Breeze late if the run is not timed correctly. Twilight Calls will be closing from much further back and risks encountering heavy traffic as the front horses fall away.

This 6f sprint at Goodwood sets up perfectly for Ruby’s Angel. We initially shortlisted several runners on their peak speed ratings, but closer inspection exposed the main dangers. Front-runners like Angel Shared and Zighy will ensure a blistering early pace but may lack the late stamina to survive it. Meanwhile, closers like Stormy Impact likely give away too much ground at the start.

Sectional times suggest Ruby's Angel possesses the tactical speed to stalk the early leaders and an elite closing burst to sweep past them late. She is dangerously well-handicapped while dropping in class today, and her peak runs have all come under these exact Good ground and 6f distance conditions. With David Probert and Hugo Palmer both in red-hot winning form, the yard is primed.
