Welcome to MarkYourCard for racing on Tuesday 26th May

I generally start to write the email for the cards around 2pm the day before racing. The odds often do not go live until 5pm .. so there will occasionally be times where i have to cut out a selection that I have written up, as the price the bookies offer is too low or does not present value.

It is quite important to note that Value is something that we should be looking for in all of the bets that we take. If one of the horses that I put up shortens in price before you get your bet on .. please consider not having a bet al all. I would say if a horse shortens by more than 20-25% .. i would think twice before taking the bet.

From Monday :

We got the winner for the cover bet in the first at Redcar Mayo County @ 5/1, so no loss on that race.

The first of the speed horses, sudden flight, got 3rd place at a price, so a bit of place money there.

Qitaal, horrible ride, we were on the best horse, jockey just decided far too late to look for a run.

Place money on Arch for more small profits.
Pilu, another 2nd, no good there.
Mertoun, another second, no idea how it did not get up.

Jockey/Trainer Stats

I had three that caught my eye.
The first.

2.50 Redcar - Cape Fear.

Opened too short so no bet here.
Balding has a fantastic record at Redcar. Over the last two years he has had 9 runners here, 5 won and 6 placed. I would like to get 2/1 for this, if there is a drift, great, If not, it will not be a bet.

Jim/Suzie Best have a decent record on the turf at Lingfield over the last couple of years. 10 runs, 5 wins, 6 places.

6.54 Lingfield - Lesley Buckley @ 25/1 - 4 places 365/Paddy/Sky

We will have a go at this one tomorrow on handicap debut from a lowly mark.

Haggas was the other trainer with a decent record at the track. 9 runs, 4 wins 7 places. He sends :

20:24 Lingfield - Luminare @ 4/1 win bet (paddy/sky)

This one won a class 5 in December at Newcastle. (0-75) then had a couple of runs in class 4 races early this year at Southwell and Lingfield, not too far away last time in a 0-80. Drops back into a Class 5 here tomorrow and should be competitive. Price is fair for the chance.

Drops In Class

5:23 Redcar - Mart - 7/1 4 places 365

First time this one will have dropped into a 0-60 since early in its career, still very much one to be reckoned with on its day and here in an amateur race with a decent jockey should be thereabouts at the finish.

Been running almost exclusively on All Weather tracks recently, last runs on turf were april, May and June of last year from marks around 70. we had a win and a close second at Lingfield.

Now 10lbs lower in the handicap must have a chance if finding form. Worth taking the chance at the each-way odds I think to find out if he comes good tomorrow.

Speed Figure Picks

16:50 Redcar - Crocus Time @ 7/1 3 places
