Update time.
Racing post a few days ago forced an update to its racecards, this has impacted the way I do much of the newsletter, from speed ratings, to notebook horses, to using AI to do some of the grunt work when running numbers and sorting data.
I have found workarounds for some of the processes, but others are proving more difficult to overcome. I will try and get back up to speed to produce something similar to what we had going, but it will take me a few more days to streamline new methods that will deliver the same outputs that we had prior to this update.
In the meantime, we will be working on much of what had before and make it a little tighter and a touch more focused. Stick with me, it’ll get there eventually.
Jockey/Trainer Stats
A bit of a cheeky one to look at for tomorrow : looking at Musselburgh stats, last two years top jockey sort by win % Filter for jockeys with ride tomorrow.
Result : Cagney, Eireann - yeah, that’s what I thought, who is that .. ?
5 rides, two wins, 3 places.
Seems to be connected with Fahey.
Overall record 16 from 79.
At the track 2 from 5
Just one ride tomorrow in the 2:20 Gallus Norman @ 4/1 currently, the early 5/1 was taken. Horse profile is interesting. Now a 7yo, did not have first run until start of 2025 at 6yo. First two runs in NHFlat races, btn 50lengths then 35 lengths over 2m trip. Figured that wasn’t working so brought him down to a mile for next two runs. Beaten 22l then 11 lengths. Race 5 up to 1m3f and beaten 32 lengths.
Given an opening handicap mark after that of 55.
Goldie sticks him in at Musselburgh over 1m 4 ½ f, First time in handicap and the horse is beaten less than a length into second at big odds.
Same track tomorrow, back up to 2miles and into an apprentice race.
The horse appears to be a favorite around the stable .. son of former stable star .. (see below) You have to think they will want a win out of this one for the owners.
Drops In Class
Lets have a swing at one for tomorrow at an each way price.
7:40 Chepstow - Punchbowl Flyer. 12/1 4 places currently with paddy.
Has a decent record at the track (2 wins and 4 places from 7 runs)
Over this track and trip he is 2 from 5 (3 places)
Ran here 4 times last summer having a win from a mark of 56, two seconds from marks of 58 and 59 and a third from a mark of 59.
Usually a front runner so likely to go off a little shorter than 12/1. Will try and dominate, lead the race and hold on for the line.
Notebook Horses
Am going to rework this section and filter the number of notebook horses significantly. There will be fewer runners but hopefully bigger strike rates.
