Drops In Class
3.48 Pontefract - Dubai Venture @ 4.0
Has been very much in form. His last six races have resulted in two wins and three seconds.
Last time out he seemed to lose his way a little at Carlisle, in a 0-70 ( AVG OR 63), drops back here in class tomorrow and heads back to Pontefract where we have a win and a close up second in the books already.
AVG OR for this race is just 48. Should be very competitive once again in this one.
Trainer has a 30% strike rate at the track over the last 2 years, compared just an average overall of 15%, so they actively target this track. Jockey does better than her long term overall average when riding here too.
Speed Figure Picks
16:48 Pontefract @ Betweenthesticks @ 6.0 3 places(Paddy/Sky)
The horse holds a strong advantage on the speed ratings here. More importantly, the sectional times prove he runs a highly efficient, perfectly paced race (100.37% FSP) over this exact course and distance.
His main pace rival, Sea Her Excel, has a documented history of burning too much energy early (sub-98% FSP) and is drawn wide in Stall 10.
Betweenthesticks has the inside draw (Stall 3) to sit in the slipstream, conserve energy, and strike late. Furthermore, his peak ratings were achieved on today's exact ground conditions (Good/Good to Firm), and the Carr/Sullivan combination is running red-hot right now, with the yard hitting a 24% win rate over the last 14 days and Sullivan striking at double his national average at Pontefract.
20:10 Wolverhampton - On Key @ 2.63 (365)
A maximum-confidence play on the numbers.
The pace map heavily favors him: his 14.65s opening furlong on this Tapeta surface completely dwarfs the early speed of his main inside rival, Walking On Clouds, who routinely breaks slower around 15.05s here. This guarantees On Key the uncontested lead on the rail from Stall 5. Every one of his top three ratings occurred on this exact surface within the last ten weeks, proving his numbers are real and current.
Finally, both trainer Scott Dixon and jockey Kieran O'Neill are course specialists striking at 13% wins and 33% places over the last fortnight. He dictates the race, eliminates traffic trouble, and is nearly 10 lbs well-in on the clock.
Anything above Even money represents tremendous value.
