Welcome to MarkYourCard for racing on Tuesday

A winner in the last email we sent out. Merrimack won well 4.0 to give us a good start to the month, last couple of days have been quiet. Very uncompetitive racing so far this month, but we do have a couple to go at tomorrow.

Speed Figure Picks

14.30 Ffos - Newsreader @ 4.50 - win bet

We initially shortlisted this field based on top speed ratings. While Monsieur Patat boasts strong numbers, his hold-up style requires a fast early pace that simply won't materialize today. Safari Dream looks dangerous on the front end, but sectional data proves he consistently folds when pressured.

Therefore, Newsreader (IRE) is our confident selection. Dropping down in class, this 7f specialist is ideally suited to today's 6f test. The pace and draw data confirm he will get a dream run tracking just behind Safari Dream. Extended form notes and late sectional times prove Newsreader possesses the late stamina to swallow a tiring leader. Finally, the booking of jockey Rossa Ryan—striking at an elite 40% at this track—guarantees a perfect tactical ride.

365 opened at 6.0, but that was taken in a matter of seconds. They settled on 4.5 and at that price these is still a small amount of value to play a win bet on this one.

4.00 Ffos - Kaleidoscope Eyes @ 4.0 win bet.

Our primary target today is Kaleidoscope Eyes (IRE) in the 16:00 Class 6 7½f Handicap at Ffos Las. Initial calculations highlighted her as potentially well-handicapped, with our speed/handicap method showing a significant +4.67 advantage over the field based on her peak recent rating. We noted Rosemary's Rose (IRE) as the main danger.

Ffos Las is a galloping, flat track with a long straight, which will suit our selection. The expected slow pace and her favourable draw (7) allow Kaleidoscope Eyes to track prominently, perfectly matching the running style that produced her career-best figure.

While Rosemary’s Rose is consistent, extended form shows she struggles to settle in slowly run races, a flaw confirmed by her sectional data which reveals a tendency to fade late when forced into early mid-race moves. Conversely, Kaleidoscope Eyes’ sectionals prove a potent sub-11s final furlong kick off a slow pace, specifically beating Rosemary’s Rose under these exact course and distance conditions.

While the danger’s trainer, B.R. Millman, is in excellent form, the booking of R.P. Downey (striking at 40% recently) for Kaleidoscope Eyes instils maximum confidence.

The price of 4.0 just about gives enough vale to take a win bet on this one today.

18:48 Lingfield - Reposado - win bet @ 7.0

Today's Lingfield handicap centers around a standout class dropper: Reposado. We initially shortlisted Reposado, Federal Envoy, Twilight Madness, and Vitalline based on their top overall speed ratings. However, Vitalline’s habit of surrendering ground at the start and Federal Envoy's vulnerability to early pace pressure made them clear discards.

The tactical script is perfectly written for Reposado. Course specialist Twilight Madness should blast from Stall 2 to set a fiery pace. Reposado, ideally drawn in the Stall 4 "sweet spot," has the proven sectional speed to stalk comfortably over his optimal 6f All-Weather trip. Dropping from competitive Irish handicaps, he boasts a significant class edge. While Federal Envoy's trainer is currently red-hot, the race's pace setup neutralizes that threat and heavily favors a stalker.
