Jockey/Trainer Stats

Trainer Patrick Neville at Ripon over the last 2 years is 3 from 3

Runs just the one there on Weds :

8.42 Ripon Paroda Diva - win bet @ 5.5

Trainer won this same race last year with the horse that gives him this track stat.
Precious Spartan came into this race off the back of a win in his previous race at Ripon, he won this race, then after taking a shot in a class 4 at York, came back to ripon and won again in another class 6.

Paroda Diva has also won previous race (at Haydock) and comes here fit and well and ready to roll after winning a 0-70 last time out from a mark of 60. Bumped 5lbs here, so running off a mark of 65, but the race is easier than the last (0-65)

Should show up well against these. I like the position, much depends on the price.
Edit . 5.5 is fair. win bet for me here.

Drops In Class

4.18 Nottingham - Something Splendid @ 13 - 3(+) Places.

Had a fantastic run for Form from June to September of last year, winning twice, runner up twice and a 4th beaten only 1.5 lengths. Those races took OR from 66 up to 76. Last win was from a mark of 76 in a 0-75 class 4 race mid September. Horse was then bumped in class and tried at a higher level. Finished down the field in a class 2 and a class three before being put away for the season.

On return a couple of weeks ago, once more ran in a class 3 race (0-95) and was down the field and then faded late, obviously needing the run after almost 7 months off track.

Tomorrow, back down into a class 5 from a mark of 75. Both wins last year were over this trip, At 4 years old, should still have a little improvement to come. As long as the first run of the season put him right, we should get to see if the horse has come on any after being put away last year.

Seems like an open enough race so we may get a price.

I have no issues with the jockey, Ghiani still gets his fair share of winners. Trainer on the other hand is a major red flag. Certainly has nowhere near the ammunition he once did, as far as I can see he now only trains a handful of horses, has not had a winner since October last year, but his RTF figure is reasonable, which means he just hasn’t run anything that has had much of chance recently.

I’m somewhat willing to overlook the trainer, but will need a price to get involved.

Edit : Opened at 12/1. That is fair, I was hoping for around 10’s. Sky and willhill will be betting to 4 places so wait for odds there if you can.

7.42 Ripon - Fortamour @ 6.0 - 4 places

10 years old now and a fantastic record of 11 wins from 69 runs.
10 of the 11 wins have been split between Ripon and Newcastle.

At Ripon his stats read : 28 runs - 6 wins 14 places.

Went close last time out at track and trip in a 0-85 class 4. Avg OR that day was 81. Ran on and beaten just a head. Split horses rated 83 and 82.

Drops in class here tomorrow into a 0-75. ANG OR just 70. Should be picking up races like this in his sleep.

Price is fair. especially given that we effectively get money back if 2nd - 4th place if we take each way.
