New month, going to build the profit and loss sheet today and start to pull together what I need to get the “notebook horses” back online. We have had a couple of slow days, so lets see if we can add a little fire into the start of the month with a winner of two.

Newcastle - Last 2 years - Brookes/Jardine
6 wins, 4 wins, 5 places.
Jardine has 4 at the meeting, 3 ridden by mullen, only Second Fiddle gets the Brookes ride. Mullen goes elsewhere in this race.
8.15 Newcastle - Second Fiddle @ 16/1 - 4 places
The horse went on a 5 run winning streak towards the end of last year with another win at Hamilton and another 3rd at this track and trip, that burst of form took her mark from 46 to 70. Last win was off a mark of 64 at this track and trip in a 0-70.
Since then had a few runs down the field and eased back a little down to 67 for this one tomorrow, Brookes back up and back to track and trip that he did so well at during that productive spell.

With this jockey - 5 runs - 4 wins
Is likely still within the handicappers grip for now, but at 16/11+ is worth taking an each-way swing in here.

Burke gives the jockey most of his rides and they team up with just one for tomorrow at the track.
4.18 Pontefract - Diamont Katie @ 4.0 win bet
Won over track and trip 2lto in a 0-75 with this jockey up top.
Then bumped to 7f last time (never won at 7f) going down less than 2l that day.
Back to 6f into 0-75, should have decent chance again here tomorrow with similar conditions to last win.

Generally does better in lower grade events with bigger weights rather than this way round .. better horses / lower weight. But at the price we cannot overlook.
Drops In Class
Biggest class dropper of the day (last race to this race) Is
20:45 Newcastle - Penny Mountain @ 7.0 - 4 places
Main danger is that this is the first time the horse has run over a mile. Especially obn this stiff track. There are indications that the horse will stay on and get the mile though, so I’m happy top take the chance here.
Last win was at Newcastle over 6f.
Last 4 runs have been over 7f and against much better 0-70’s to 0-80 .. not beaten too far in those races. Three of thoe races were at Newcastle where the horse was beaten less than a length and a half each time by better rated horses.
Drops into a 0-55 here tomorrow and on paper should have the beating of these. Am hoping to see the horse closer to the front of the race and push for home early.
